Hello.
I know it might be a bit late to signup on the last day, but I decided I would like to try and join anyway :p

I'm subst, subst /at/ seznam.cz
and map will be a CTF level

(just started so I will post some screenshot with the word later today or tomorrow)

I thought the layout was pretty good myself. I'm sure there are tweaks you'll make but I like
the initial work :D .

Uh oh... looks like we`ll be using the same texture set. :P hehe

The layout is really complex, in a good way. While it will take a few runs to completely memorize it, I do like how the map appears to be much bigger than it really is. The map is really complicated and has lots of vertical action but from looking at the distance of the flag rooms, it`s actually smaller than Stronghold (q3ctf3) or even Troubled Waters (q3ctf2). But the flag rooms seem very defensible and it seems you`ll have to coordinate grouped attacks from different sides and levels to make successful captures, which is very good. I could see this as a QuakeCon-worthy map if it ever gets to QL.

The middle area has some neat ideas with lots of overlapping walkways, making it very dynamic. There is room for improvement, however. The main thing I noticed is that there`s a high platform near the top, uninhabited by items, and not accessible except by rocket jumping. I feel that this empty space could "use something". I noted that you could crouch under the mega walkway in between the angled bounce pads, so perhaps you could throw in a teleporter which the player drops into right underneath the MH, where he/she will spawn at the aforementioned high platform, where he can grab a goodie like the Quad, Regen, Kami, etc.

This arena is looking solid. Detail and everything is excellent and there is obvious improvement from your earlier works. Keep up the good work - this might just be a prize-winner.

Noruen -Thanks man, and I hope you can get your stuff going again very soon, it's looking really great so far.


EmeraldTiger -Thank for the comment and suggestions! Actually that idea with teleporter under MH sounds quite interesting. The top platform indeed was intended for QUAD, but in the end I decided to go without it. Your idea about how to connect it is really nice and I'm gona try that out, however I wouldn't like to have this to become an overused path. Maybe if the the teleporter could be somehow only 'spawning' together with the QUAD and disappearing after pickup. Not sure if this is even possible to make though and also like that it could actually become too predictable :/ oh well. Or just simply put QUAD there but no teleporter -as I originaly wanted, but I thought having it accessible only by rocket-jump was kinda weird :/

I like the overall look and feel of this map, seems like it'd be fun to play! Mega in the center instead of a power-up is different, I'm interested to see how that plays out.

Still not sure about the middle powerup, the best would be to test it in live match i guess...
