Post Re: Fluorescent by Ferdinand 'cityy' List (BETA I)
Hey bro.

I agree with what some have said regarding over-saturation of color in the bases. White texture + bright cyan/red = eyes burning. I think it'd help to give the textures some sort of hue (brownish?) and slightly darken them instead of mostly desaturated white. I like the big bricks.

The ceiling lighting trim that you have reminded me of Kritche Masse by cha0s, so maybe some things he did might serve as inspiration.

I'd definitely expand upon the grass you have going, with some sprigs here and there and maybe some big/small rocks. It reminded me of Japanese Castles, so maybe you could bring in some of ideas from that map.

I think the neon piping would look better if it were placed in some sort of casement and was more "liquidy". Example: http://student.cs.appstate.edu/freemanc ... dpipes.jpg

As far as the text goes, I actually did find it helpful as I was running around, although the FarCry-esque font wasn't really doing it for me, and neither was the more "hand drawn" looking decals. Maybe you could do something like having big monitors display the text?

I think the recent Achromatic's JP's and TP's were really badass, I think something along the same lines would look great along side your current theme (although your shaft design is looking pretty sweet).

Overall, looking really cool, I like the layout for sure. Keep it up!

Thanks for the input kaz! I looked into changing the pipes and I am still tweaking the lighting. I think I'm pretty happy with the JPs I got now. They aint too bad imo. I want to keep things rather simple in this map and not overdo it with details while creating an original environment. I'll see where that brings me.

i probably should have posted this earlier but i really think the colors in this map would benefit from a moodier lighting scheme, perhaps even a night time setting. The fluorescent colors, grass, and bright lighting of day is just too much for my eyes all at once. just something to consider.
