ok ive started today, making the maplayout as model.

so here is teh start :

Image

here we go ...

Image

bleh (ffs)

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

and radiant bla

Image

Image

added all stairs and made the first model for one of the yards. also a sandtexture.

Image

ok what i did for week2 :

i finished the outter terrain

Image

here with the rest of the level

Image

i made also some doorframes, and textures for them.

Image

Image

and i expanded the map-layout.

Image

and made a textured previousmodel of the level itself to have at least a little bit visualstructure.

Image

and so it looks in radiant.

Image

Image

Image

so this is the bla for week3.

this week i made a little bit more.

a doorframe from the lower pit down to the "cellar" lol

Image

one part of the wall for the "pit"

Image

the walls of the "cellar"

Image

one part of the deco for the outside without textures

Image

now with textures and completed

Image

i expanded again the layout and started texturing it.

Image

and expanded the outer terrain and finished it ( i guess)

Cool that you're using Sketchup for this, started using this a few weeks ago. Awesome in many respects.

However, using an all model made layout might be dangerous... looks solid though.

I like the door frame, but the terrain looks too edgy, imo.

The terrain will look great in game once smoothing is applied. Although using two textures, one for the walls (rock) and one for the floor (sand) and blending them would make this even nicer ;)

:D This is great, I've never seen a map started in Sketchup before.

I sometimes build ideas in sketchup first, but usually find it gets too complex
after a short while. I can work much faster in Radiant.

How do you convert it to a model/brushes for use in Radiant?

Ye it is Google sketchup, i use pro 7, what means i can just can export it to lwo or 3ds, if its needed ( for uvmapping for e.g ) i use blender ( you cant really do a uvmap with sketchup, if you load it into other tools like blender or 3dsmax the whole aligment is messed up.) If i dont need anything special i just use biturn ( http://www.mirex.mypage.sk/index.php?selected=1 ) to convert them to ase, but i guess there are several tools who can do it also. @ mav, hahaha i really had to laught, but i did really see not long ago tron, i guess i saw it allready to often! So here is the first alpha, its very early alpha, so there still 1-2 corners unclipped, also i didnt include the commonspog textures which will be missing, i hope you dont hate me for that xD.
but you can jump around, and the map has itemplacments for duel and a second for ffa aswell as tdm. i tried to upload it here, but i always recieve an errormessage. so here is a first dl link.
i willl later add the file here.
